We are getting our act together. Or at least we are trying to. In a few weeks, the busiest time of the year will begin. Starting on November 6th or 7th, we should see a turnover of 4k-10k every day. I would like to get a margin of 25% on that.
There are different steps that we are taking right now to achieve that goal. We have planned very important sales for that date and we cannot fail.
1 Estimate Christmas sales
2 Order product
3 Optimize and retouch listings
4 Perform A/B tests with the cover image
5 Send the “mature” Lego sets
6 Prepare product ready to ship
7 Organize overtime for the warehouse
Estimate Christmas sales
Everything starts with an estimate of the expected sales. We did it last year and we will repeat the exercise this afternoon. We have an overall overseas data figure but it will be a matter of detailing that result at the level of different product lines. In this way we will also have a more realistic view of whether the figure is achievable or not.
Ordering product
This is theoretically already done and we are this data can be used to monitor waiting for the last shipments from China these days. We are also still placing new orders with local suppliers that if all goes well will arrive faster. There will also be, as always, many Christmas offers that as good resellers that we are, we will know how to take advantage of.
Optimizing and retouching the listings
I have already mentioned this on another occasion. In the second part of the year we focus on improving what we have. We still don’t do it enough but it is something that I have to insist on much more. Sometimes it is changing a photo, other times adding keywords, improving translations, etc.
Performing A/B tests with the cover image
Another key will be performing A/B tests. Last week turkey data we discovered that a photo discarded for aesthetic reasons converts almost 50% better than the most visually attractive one. We have to work even more on the data with this type of initiatives.
Sending the “mature” Lego sets
This year we have a lot of mature Lego. In fact we are already taking out a large part of the inventory. There are even sets that have already been sold before Christmas, something we had never tried before. It is also something to take into account when calculating the units for future orders.
Prepare product ready to ship
There are products that require some preparation time. We have to have these ready so that when stock starts to fall we can replenish in time. It is another demanding task that requires our attention, especially at this time.
